Paws and Peers

Mesa Public Schools is proud to utilize the Paws & Peers school therapy dog program. Participating MPS staff and their dogs, also known as paw partners, pass obedience and therapy classes and are tested and approved using a nationally recognized therapy team evaluation. Paws & Peers seeks to meet the social and emotional needs of Mesa Public Schools students and staff. These dogs serve as trusted companions in classrooms, and counseling, nurse, or administrative offices for crisis intervention, behavioral de-escalation, or simply to address stress, anxiety and/or isolation.

Maggie

Remy is a mini Bernadoodle who loves his therapy dog job at Madison! He is excellent at providing comfort, support and affection with a calming presence to our amazing students and staff. Remy is very soft and loves cuddles and "pets" from everyone. He gets so excited when he knows he's coming to our school for the day. Remy enjoys catching frisbees, going on hikes, long walks and learning new tricks (for treats of course!). Please come by and visit Remy in our speech room with his handler, Ms. Raye. We love visitors.

Maggie is a Bernedoodle. A Bernedoodle is a mix of a Poodle and a Bernese Mountain dog. Maggie loves chewing on toys, chasing balls - but not so much on giving them back, playing in water – any water, bathtubs, sprinklers, hose – she LOVES water, she loves car rides, she shakes with both paws and knows how to boop her nose for a treat. She is working on catch. Her FAVORITE humans are children, and she gets very excited about coming to school.
